There’s a trap in the spiritual and self-improvement space that nobody warns you about.
It’s not addiction, it’s not narcissism, it’s not even ego inflation.
It’s becoming so “spiritual” that you lose sight of how to be human.
You meditate for hours, chase peak states, journal about the downloads you’re receiving from the universe… yet you’re still broke, still scared to talk to women, still stuck in a life that doesn’t excite you.
That’s not awakening. That’s spiritual bypassing.
The Truth About Humanness
The most spiritual thing you can do isn’t to leave your body to live in a blissful state.
It’s embracing your humanness.
Being present in society.
Owning your desires.
Feeling it all, not just the light, but also the discomfort, the pain, the challenge.
Ram Dass put it perfectly:
“In spiritual evolution, you don’t destroy the ego, you merely turn away from identifying with it. You still need it as a functional unit. When I’m talking to you, I realize there’s a you and a me. At another plane, I’m just talking to myself. These are two planes of reality. Because it’s God talking to itself.”
As a writer, content creator, and men’s coach, I am talking to YOU, the reader.
And on another plane, I am just talking to myself, and you are just engaging with yourself through me.
Trippy, I know… but let’s get back to the main point of your ego.
You’re not here to kill the ego.
You’re here to use it consciously while keeping your heart open and your presence free.
The Misconception of “Nice Guy Spirituality”
Here’s where a lot of men fall off the path.
Pastors, new-age gurus, and modern spiritual influencers teach a version of spirituality that’s always:
- passive,
- overly nice,
- conflict-avoidant,
- disconnected from desire.
They preach about “being good,” but what they’re really doing is stripping men of their power.
It’s the same cultural attack on masculinity just dressed up in holy robes or yoga beads.
Quite honestly, it overlaps with the history of what society was going through during the Roman Empire when Jesus was spreading his message.
Spirituality and religion were being used to disempower the freedom of individuals.
Then Jesus came into the picture, spoke God’s truth, and got crucified for it.
There is nothing unspiritual about being ambitious, stacking wealth, taking initiative, being loud, owning your sexuality, and being the man who runs the show.
That’s actually what keeps your masculine life force energy alive.
The man who hides his power in the name of being “nice” is not spiritual.
He’s neutered.
His balls were completely chopped off energetically.
The Real Path
Being human is cool. Embracing it is even cooler.
Living in a society that doesn’t fully “get it” is fine.
The deeper test is learning to navigate through it without shrinking.
Spirituality doesn’t mean you float above it all.
It means you engage with it fully:
- Build your body.
- Build your wealth.
- Build your relationships.
- Build your legacy.
Stop trying to be Buddha in a cave or Jesus on the cross.
You’re not here to deny yourself life.
You’re here to live it.
Imperfectly, passion, and powerfully.
So don’t bypass life in the name of “being spiritual.”
Don’t let fake gurus or weak pastors convince you that passivity is enlightenment.
Instead, bring your awareness into life.
Into your business.
Into your dating.
Into your ambition.
Into your body. Into your relationships.
That’s what real spiritual power looks like.
Much love,
