Why trying to have everything leave you with nothing

We see it everywhere nowadays through social media.

Everyone has the perfect life. The career they always wanted, the dream relationship, freedom to travel, demigod like aesthetics.

They seem to “have it all”, right?

I chased this idea of “having it all”. Worked harder, said yes to every opportunity, chased multiple different avenues trying to get there.

Instead, I ended up burnt out with less than I started with.

This idea that you can balance the perfect business, an ideal relationship, a vibrant social life, and peak health simultaneously is a myth.

Trying to juggle everything perfectly will only leave you exhausted, stressed, and feeling like you’re constantly falling short.

When you try to have it all, you spread yourself too thin. You say yes to everything, thinking it will lead to fulfillment, but instead, it creates shallow relationships because you’re too busy to nurture them, stalled progress in business because your attention is divided, and constant frustration with yourself for not “doing enough.”

That’s when you open Instagram and you end up measuring your life against someone else’s highlight reel.

But no one is telling you the full story.

When was the last time you saw someone post a failure on IG? Yeah…

The person who’s crushing it in business might be struggling in their relationships.

A person with an incredible relationship might be neglecting their health.

No one has it all figured out.

Most people are out here winging it (especially in business… trust me).

Instead of chasing the illusion of “having it all,” ask yourself what really matters right now. You need to focus on one thing, hit it hard, and then move on to the next.

Focus on your priorities. Focus on what actually moves the needle.

Stop saying yes to things out of guilt or fear of missing out.

Start feeling fulfilled by what you’re actually doing instead of stressed by what you’re not.

It’s simple, identify your top priorities. What are the one to three things that matter most to you right now? Be brutally honest. Don’t lie to yourself.

Remember, you can always shift your focus later, but for now, pick your priorities. Let go of the rest. Give yourself permission to release the pressure to excel in areas that aren’t a priority right now. This doesn’t mean giving up forever – it just means giving yourself the grace to focus where it counts.

Redefine what “all” means to you. Your version of “having it all” might look different from someone else’s, and that’s okay. Success is personal. Make sure the life you’re building aligns with your values, not society’s expectations.

When you stop chasing everything, you make space for what truly matters. You’ll realize that you don’t need to have it all to feel fulfilled. You just need to focus on the things that bring you purpose, connection, and joy. The rest? It’s just noise.

You don’t need to have it all.

You just need to have what matters most to you.
